Chinese Culture Overview The Chinese Civilization according to mythology is in existence from the time when Universe came in existence. However the evidence of first dynasty of China that is the Neolithic Dynasty shows its existence from 4000 B.C. The Chinese Culture has been influenced by mainly Buddism and Christianity. This is so because during Ancient and Imperial China the various Dynasties followed the principles of Buddhism though there were few momentary disagreements. In the Later Imperial China Western missionaries started coming to China for spreading Christanity. This was the period when the culture of China started getting westernised. There were several missionaries schools that taught English language and the time had come when traditional Chinese students started going abroad to study higher studies. One can find both western and Buddhist culture in China , though the percentage of Buddhism is more than western culture. While taking a Chinese culture overview one can see the strong influence of Buddhism in every aspects of life. Chinese Art effects mainly display various forms of Buddha. On can find Buddha in form of pendants, laughing Buddhas , Buddha attaining Nirvana on his death bed. One can find Buddha in temples, grottes or frescoes all over China. Even the famous Chinese fans have pictures of either Buddha or some art related to Buddha. The traditional Chinese wear consist of robe type costume that has pictures of plants and animals or the Chinese dragons. The colours like yellow,green,white and red were for Emperor costumes and common man were to use secondary coloured costumes. The Chinese are pioneers of making firecrackers. Firecrackers are burnt during the festivals and personal occasions of joy. The burning of firecrackers on New Year in Chine has been accustom from over 2000 years. Than the Abacus was the invention of Chinese that was also called as the first calculating machine in the world. Abacus was invented during the Eastern Han Dynasty in 190 A.D. Most of the ancient palaces had nine courtyards or quadrangle, nine rows of nine pillars and various such structures counting to number nine or its multiples. This was so because the number nine was regarded most masculine number. One of the old trades found in Chinese culture from ancient era is of animal husbandry and silk worm breeding. Even today silkworm breeding is done on big scale in the provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu. Due to the various invasions and different dynasties there are on or about ten different ethnic groups of people that one can find in China. Accordingly the traditional cuisines in China vary with respect to the various ethnicities. This includes right from the medicinal dishes to those prepared of snakes and frogs. One of the most popular concept of Chinese culture is the Chinese martial arts. There are several types of Chinese martial arts that are in existence from the days of Ancient China. The martial arts are displayed either empty handed or with swords. These martial arts were taught not only for self defense but also for mind control and self healing. China is one of the important countries to teach the world the wonders of martial arts.
