Restoration of the Chinese Empire

Restoration of Chinese Empire

After the Sui Dynasty which lasted from 581 - 617 AD, China was unified again and was frequently compared with the Qin Dynasty in terms of the duration of the two dynasties and the corrupt practices established by the first Qin Emperor of China. Due to the Chinese governments dictatorial demands, excessive tax burden and imposed labor on the local people, the Sui Dynasty could not survive for long. The labor was being ill-treated and over-burdened with the construction of the Grand Canal and the undertaking of many other public works projects, such as the extension of the Great Wall. During the early seventeenth century, there were costliest and terrible military campaigns done against Korea. This led the dynasty dispersed with revolts, infidelity and assassination.

The Chinese civilization witnessed the Tang Dynasty with its capital at Changan regarded as superiors or equals by famous historians. The Tang (618 907 AD) was acquired by military exploitation of previous rulers, and this was huge than that of the Han dynasty. It was also inspired by Indias and Middle Easts creativity. During the era of Confucianism, Buddhism was evolved in India and later got flourished in the Tan dynasty, and was sinicized and made a part of old Chinese culture. Under Tang rule, many inventions took place, such block printing, civil service examination, literature and art. The scholars got status and respect within their local communities, family boundations and shared values. During the period of Tang dynasty and the end of Qing Empire in 1911, the scholars-officials often served as intermediaries between officials at lower level and the government. With the Tang power receded in the mid-eighteenth century AD in 751, five centuries of military decline were introduced. Later the northern invaders successfully terminated the dynasty in 907 owing to misruling, court intriguing, economic exploitation and rebellions. In the next half century, China was fragmented into five northern dynasties and ten southern kingdoms. In 960, Song dynasty reunified China Proper, and was subdivided into two phases, viz. Northern Song (960-1127 AD) and Southern Song (1127-1279 AD).

A good centralized bureaucracy system was built with civilian scholar-officials working in it. Central officials were appointed. Cities were developed for administrative purposes as well as promote trade, industry and maritime commerce. Printing and education were spread widely; private trade gained momentum and the mercantile class was introduced.
